Enhancing Neuroinclusive Strategies for Associations

About
Our research focuses on promoting neurodiversity inclusion within associations. We aim to identify and implement effective practices that foster inclusive environments for neurodivergent leaders, members, and staff. By understanding and addressing the unique needs and strengths of neurodivergent individuals, we strive to create a supportive and empowering community for all.
Overview
The ASAE Research Foundation, in partnership with Meeting Professionals International Foundation, is leading a multi-phase study to understand how associations can intentionally design environments, programs, and cultures that recognize and support neurodiversity across their communities.
Using literature reviews, interviews, surveys, and online journals, the project examines how inclusion shows up in day-to-day operations, leadership, and engagement. Findings will inform practical guidance to help associations create spaces where neurodivergent professionals can contribute fully—enhancing creativity, innovation, and organizational resilience.
Current Phase: Online Journals and Analysis
The survey portion of this study has concluded. Thank you to the association professionals and association members who shared their perspectives and experiences.
The project is now in Phase 4, focused on online journals and data analysis. This phase captures first-hand accounts from neurodivergent professionals to deepen understanding of inclusion in practice.
Status: Data collection complete (Survey) | Online journals and analysis in progress
Next step: Preliminary findings to be released in 2026
Research Phases
