Research Project Overview
Our research focuses on promoting neurodiversity inclusion within associations. We aim to identify and implement effective practices that foster inclusive environments for neurodivergent leaders, members, and staff. By understanding and addressing the unique needs and strengths of neurodivergent individuals, we strive to create a supportive and empowering community for all.
Potential Impact on Associations
Implementing these inclusive practices can significantly enhance the overall operation and culture of associations. By embracing neurodiversity, associations can benefit from diverse perspectives, innovative problem-solving, and increased member engagement. This approach not only supports the well-being of neurodivergent individuals but also strengthens the association's ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Research Phases
- Phase 1: Preliminary Landscape Review
Conducting a comprehensive review of existing literature and practices to understand the current state of neurodiversity inclusion within associations. - Phase 2: In-depth Interviews (IDIs)
Engaging with neurodivergent individuals and association leaders through detailed interviews to gather insights and experiences. - Phase 3: Quantitative Survey
Distributing surveys to a broader audience to collect quantitative data on the effectiveness of current inclusion practices and identify areas for improvement. - Phase 4: Online Journals
Utilizing online journals to document ongoing experiences and reflections from neurodivergent individuals within associations.
Anticipated Outcomes
- Guide associations in creating a neuroinclusive culture
Providing actionable recommendations to help associations foster an environment that supports and empowers neurodivergent individuals. - Identify and minimize barriers to neuroinclusivity
Highlighting obstacles to inclusion and offering strategies to overcome these challenges, ensuring a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
